What does a girl do that is longing for her parents and
finally has a weekend free from major responsibilities? Drive fast as a speeding bullet to paradise! I'm on cloud 9 after visiting my parents for a little sleepover and a one-on-one date combo with Sarah. We were spoiled by great conversation till the wee ours of the night and lots of laughter and hugs. Sarah creamed me in a game of Pick-Up-Sticks followed by a breathtaking walk with the fragrant smells of pine and rain, the beauty of clouds hovering over the lake, and golden yellow leaves sprinkled about the earth. Sarah even ate cake and cookies for breakfast and on the way home we got ice cream for lunch (Yes, that is right!). It was all too short and sweet. I can never get enough of my angel parents.

The new grass...

A perfect rock bench...

The most beautiful and interesting plant/fungi...

Sarah the geologist cracking rocks open (I did this too growing up!)...

Saint Ardis sending me home with cookies, cookie mix, bags full of grapes, an entire homemade pizza and
kielbasa casserole...
Sarah is still young enough where she idolizes me and I'm soaking it all up because I know it will be gone quickly. She wants to dance like me, dress like me, do her hair like me. So on the way home today I said, "Sarah, we are so much alike! I eat all of the chocolate first off of my candy bars and Little Debbie cakes too! Isn't that so fun that we are so much alike?" Sarah says, "No." Shocked I say, "Why?" Sarah answers, "BECAUSE YOU HAVE WRINKLES!" The End!

Wrinkles?? I don't believe it. You're skin looks too perfect. Where do your parents live? Their property is amazing. What beautiful views!
I hope my kids idolize me... SOMEDAY! Sounds like an amazing trip!
Oh, leave it to the kids to always say the wrong thing! Oh well, at least we know they love us reguardless.
I LOVE your parents home! It really is a piece of paradise on earth. Is it weird to think you used to live there (temporarily) when the cabin was there? I love that they even have a cool rock bench. What a dream haven...and food for the trip home too!
Sounds wonderful! I love that you were able to have one on one time with Sarah. I need to do something like that with each of my girls.
Hey Leah it's Evelynne, I just discovered your blog via Jess. You win the award for "most fun mom" and "most awesome wife." (Andy would definitely vote for you if he got wind of the rifle.) Then again you are a pretty darn cool friend, too. Thanks for the nice things you have done for our family (most recently the DVD player) I owe you one!
Oh... sounds like heaven. Not only do I love spending time with my mom, but one on one time with a kid is such a worthwhile investment too. Good job! Btw, I agree with the other posters... you win for most fun mom. By FAR!!! = )
Hey Leah,
I have been wanting to tell you some things I have learned about going on the 'diet' with Jaxon. I would send it to your e-mail, but I still don't have your e-mail address! Anyway, I was reading up on Celiacs Disease, do you know anything about that? Do you have any food allergies in your family history? They say that most of the issues that surround autism start with lack of proper nurishment and that is because they don't have healthy bowels and they aren't absorbing the nutrients properly.. kind of like Celiac's disease. It is pretty interesting. We just had Jaxon's follow up visit since he has been on the diet and vitamins and it looks like his body is starting to absorb some of the nutrients he was missing. He was highly deficient in SOOOOOOOO many things, it was crazy to see. He eats what we all eat, but his body just wasn't absorbing it! It is crazy. Anyway, I won't make this any longer, but send me an e-mail if you want more info.
that is to cute.. Addison does the same thing.. but comments I am the older one.. love it.. and I think you have to look really hard to see the wrinkles on you.. its just not possible!!! What a fun mom..!!!
