My Love Affair With a Trail

Three times in one week on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes.  70 miles of beauty with several trail heads.  I'm hoping for a fourth time this week!  The sweet smell of pine and clean earth, cardio, time spent with loved ones, quiet, the awesome beauty of nature and wildlife.  I feel so very fulfilled on this trail in every way.

Ride #1...Date Night. This is my favorite way to ride the trail. With my Honey. He is the best date ever. We smile, talk, and laugh the whole way.

Russ' bike seat imprinted on his bum.

Ride #2...Girls' Day Out.  Now that was fun!  Felt totally spoiled and blessed.

That same day Russ took the day off (to celebrate the close of the quarter that he said felt more stressful than finals week!) and went boating with Ava and 3 dads who all took their youngest along.  4 Dads, 4 preschoolers.  That was so fun to think of all those Mr. Moms on the boat that day with their babies!

My friends and I couldn't have felt more spoiled that day to be just with the grown ups.  It was awesome.  And who knew we could talk for 6 hours straight?  No surprise really!

Ride #3...Priesthood Session Girls' Night Out.  I loaded our bikes up and took the girls all by myself.  I brought pepper spray just in case because you never know what you'll encounter in the middle of nowhere!  I may squeal and grunt lifting the heavy bikes onto the rack and come away with a few bruises from getting it all tangled up, but it feels empowering to be able to do that by myself.

We had to chuck Alyssa's bike into the bushes so she could ride in the trailer after a bit.  The whine machine was in full force 30% of the time, but we went to Chili's on the way home and she professed that it was the best day of her whole entire life.  It is so fun spending time as girls.  I really like Priesthood Session!!!

Sarah tried to ride about 50 yards ahead to soak in the peace of her surroundings
because the little girls (or "medium" girls as they prefer to be called) were fighting or yelling in the trailer.  Sarah had the right idea!

Can't wait for the next conference session girls' night out with my girls!!!

Will be dreaming of this trail all winter long.  .....Sigh.....

These pictures look unreal--like you photo shopped yourselves into award winning photographs of pristine vistas. How is it possible that you live amongst that all the time? You amaze me! I love that you love your surroundings--even after all these years. And welcome back to the blogging world. I loved your blog about what would life be like when Ava is in first grade. It is wierd how you'll still be busy, but with a little more personal choice with how you stay busy.

Cynthia lives there in Coere d'Alene (I have a feeling I spelled that wrong). It is so beautiful and I would be right there with ya on the trail 4 times a week, pepperspray in hand of course, but soaking up all that beauty!!!!

How do you get that trailer to stay attached?~!? I put K and Wade in a trailer and the second I go over a bump, they fall off. SO FRUSTRATING! Such beautiful pix! Glad you are back to blogging!

Yeah! I love being allowed in your life for a bit. Great post - things that I have major empathy for right now. Hang in there, xoxo
