It Was Halloween Around Here

What do you do when 40 bucks at Tarjay per costume makes you gag? Turn your nativity scene angel and shepherd costumes Mom sewed decades ago into Princess Leia and Annakin Skywalker! Just a few 1 dollar embelishments from the fabric store does the trick! Sarah came up with this savvy plan. She saved me 80 bucks! Love her. Chad looked so cool with his braid I cut from one of Ava's dolls and attached with clear elastic to his ear.
Pippi couldn't have been cuter. She kept accidentally stabbing people with the sharp ends of the hanger so later I added marshmallows on the ends!
Total spent on all four costumes...4 dollars! Yeehaw!
The night was magical. We go all out. Strobe lights and party music on our porch for the trick-or-treaters at our house!
Earlier we made haunted houses out of graham crackers...
But eating the frosting was half the fun!
We rocked it at skate night and left with sore backs from busting moves like this all night.
I officially love love Halloween! But I think that having fast Sunday the morning after Halloween is proving too much for some.

You are the bargain queen! I love it! Good thinking, momma! Four bucks on four kids.... $1 costumes are where it's AT!

And awesome that your kids don't HAVE to have the "$40 version or forget it".

May I note that it has to be fall for it to be Halloween ;-) ha ha ha!!! I love it too. So fun! Our costumes cost a bit more, but not much. Ethan wanted a bloody sword from Walmart that cost $5. I told him that if he would wear his phantom costume from last year (that the sword actually went well with) than I'd get it for him. Catie was a gypsy fortune teller. I bought her a scarf and made a crystal ball (a little price for the supplies)then the rest we either had or borrowed. Then Ryan was the bat he was last year. It still fit and he didn't remember that it. Works for me! Ellie used the cow costume that Catie wore when she was one. Not too bad!

PS I think the expensive Target costumes are so cheaply made! Homemade creativity is soooo much cuter too.

PPS I saw a cute costume online. You tape "Smarties" candy all over your pants....then you're a "Smarty Pants!"
