Rabbit and Octopus

I may get arrested for a BUI (blogging under the influence) because I am SO loaded up on Dramamine right now! I just finished eating a bunch of carmel corn with my eyes closed from sleepiness. Have you ever eaten with your eyes closed because you are just so tired? It feels gluttonous.

Just got back from Seattle on a business trip with Russ. JUST the two of us. I kept saying, "I feel like I'm your mistress!" The bag checker even thought I was. I tried to tell him I was his wife, but he didn't believe me. Oh yeah, I did introduce myself as Russ' mistress. Anyway, I could tell Russ really liked having me along!

Holy cow this place is SWANKY! I forget that places like this exist actually. I quite enjoy my little redneck corner of the world where people don't care what brand your purse is. So anyway, I enjoyed my stay at the deliciously fragrant and swanky Westin right in the middle of the swanky shopping mecca. While Russ was at work all day, I gawked at 20,000 dollar coffee tables and the like and missed my Tarjay and TJ Maxx. But I loved every minute and felt like I didn't have a care in the world! This is me heading out with my first purse since junior high I just bought last week. A total cheap plastic purse, but a purse nonetheless!

I ate chocolate for breakfast, a cinnamon roll for lunch, and finished the day with rabbit and octopus.

Yes...melt in your mouth delicious rabbit and octopus!

The Octopus

Russ' foodie boss was our generous host at dinner and the meal was A-MA-ZING. The fanciest food I've ever had. The chef is world famous and on her way to being Iron Chef. They say it's the best in Seattle. The place is tiny and intimate.

Everyone at dinner was thoroughly enjoying me ooh and ahh at everything. All these people travel the world and love the finer things in life. I'm a Costco pizza kind of girl. So they had to interpret the menu for me because I didn't understand 95% of it! I mean can you interpret this? It's Chinese to me!

My handsome date. Oooh la la!

The older I get, the more I totally love hanging with Russ' co-workers. When I was young, I found it awkward to discuss my chosen profession of motherhood with the young single yuppie crowd. But as they age too and we are all more comfortable in our own skin, we all just partay together and everyone seems so very genuine and accepting. I'm incredibly proud of my profession anyway! More than ever. And maybe the dinner party was so fun because we're all getting laid off in a few weeks!

The kids LOVE LOVE LOVE their present I bought each of them. These candy toilets:
I said, "You take the plunger, lick it, swirl it around the toilet, lick, and repeat." Can you imagine hearing that in a public restroom?! Anyway, the kids can't get enough of their little toilets. The best 75 cents ever spent.

Thank you to my angel Mom for taking care of the kids so beautifully and organizing several closets, a disaster of a storage room, and the girls' bedroom. That was the very best part of this trip! I love you so very much and am the luckiest daughter in the world.

I'm happy to leave swanky town to be back in redneck town with all my pretty little munchkins I missed so much!

The toilets are just.too.much. :) Looks like loads of fun, but are you serious? Is he really being laid off? I thought you said that wasn't going to happen?!?!?! Well, I hope you are joking.

Great purse purchase! Was it as cheap as mine??? :)

Those candy toilets are so ridiculous! The rabbit and octopus kind of freaks me out. I am very particular about my food... Looks like a fun weekend:)

Leah, I love that you admit you love your life over that uppity nonsense (that is still fun to visit). You are a down to earth gal that is totally happy in any situation. Such a gift.
But really? Getting laid off? I sure hope not! Keep us posted.

When I first read the title and then saw a picture of you and Russ I was thinking YOU were the rabbit and Russ the octopus. ;) oooh la la to that!

What a fun fancy pants trip you had! I love it! So glad you got to spend some time with your man. And switch things up a bit. AND it doesn't hurt that your mom babysits AND organizes. Seriously, I love that woman!

Also I am positive my kids would LOVE candy toilets. You should have bought a case! That is to funny!

Sorry about the being laid off. Call if you need to talk. LYLAS (I don't think I've used that one since middle school...he he!)

Their eyes about popped out of their heads.. ha ha!!! So glad you got to swankyfy yourself for a bit.. but reality is a sweeter thing!!!

You and Russ look so HOT together! I love your down-to-earth attitude, that you can admit that you need help with a menu, and that you'll buy your kids toilet candy. I never stop finding more reasons to love you.
