Family Tandem Bike Rides

Saturday felt so so so weird because...gasp...I stayed home most of the day so I could help my 3 and 5 year old children rediscover the floor in their bedroom. And the upstairs hallway too.

It was the weirdest thing to not do anything fun that day. I hated that part! While I was at the stake baptism, Russ gave them a big lecture that SO paid off. He played a John Bytheway CD to them that talks about how as a family we're all riding a tandem bike together. Sometimes some of us may be just coasting or even worse putting on the brakes. Ideally we will all be pedaling the bike together. So I came home and the house was spotless and the next morning before I even got up kids were organizing shoe closets and other great things without me even asking!!! My 5 year old said, "See, Mom! I'm pedaling!"

Oh yeah, I did do something fun Saturday. I had no kids with me after the baptism so I took a little detour on the way home and mistakenly fell in love with this:
I called Russ and happily said, "Thank you for the early birthday present you just got me!" I tried it on for the family and they hated it. And I realized I did too! Too much of a good thing. Would have made a cute skirt or shirt, but a dress is a little overkill. Returning it tomorrow.

Speaking of clothes...I wore some very high pointy shoes to church today and these ladies said, "Oooo, those shoes are sooo sexy!" I guess they kind of are, but do I really want to look sexy at church? No! But my husband is in the building and I like to look sexy for him! ;) How do you look cute and not frumpy but not sexy? Flats? I guess what I'm trying to say is (since I don't think I have a problem with too sexy clothes)....are there certain SHOES that are too sexy for church? Or when you are modestly dressed does it not really matter? I am confused.

Leah, I can see why you fell in love with the dress-- the design (outside of the polkies) is really cute around the neck and the waist, and lets face it.... you look great in anything!
The sexy at church thing...no, don't go the flats route. The problem is, not just your hubby is at church I guess. I had that same problem today, too, only with a blouse. I got a look that made me think more about what the purpose of dressing up for church is. I suppose as long as we are clean and not casual in our dress-- and it isn't distracting-- we should be OK with wearing it. But the fact of the matter is, we LIKE feeling pretty at church, right? I decided that what I wear should be less important. But you aren't going to find me wearing sailor's dresses from the 80's just because it's clean, modest, and dressier!!

You are hysterical.. as I start reading your post.. I am looking at that dress, thinking how cute is that.. then I read that you are taking it back.. I think...mmmm maybe she will mail it to me..and in my crazy mind, that it might actually fit me.. I think its darling.. but can see how to much of a good thing can be to much.. still.. perhaps the name of where you got it?? Might have to check it out myself.. I like to be obnixious sometimes!!!

Anyway.. love the bike refrence..I may have to use that tonight for FHE.. a great lesson.. my kids get the clean for a day every year.. just non stop cleaning.. then they realize if they do little bits every day its better than having to do it all day everyday!

Now the Sexy at church thing.. I have run into that on occasion, and I realize I love dressing up, especially with my man sitting next to me.. love the heals the skirts.. but there is apoint to looking great, and then attracting attention from others.. I have a great pair of point high heels.. and even with the longest sleeved dress and skirt.. they are just a little much for church..sometimes.. anyway..I digress.. I have found too that there are some that will compliment you on things and thats just what it is a compliment.. shoes can be sexy..thats not bad.. now if you were told your top was .. that might be different!!! Anyway.. your blog.. my long winded comment!! Your too cute!!!

Love the first two comments and totally agree with them both. They said it well :)

You are one sexy little mama! Good job Russ on having them listen to a talk tape. What a fun idea to get the point across.

And by the way....did I mention that you're HOT!!!

Shoes can be sexy... I don't think there is anything wrong with that!!! It is the rest of the outfit that can be a problem! :)

I agree with Lindsey...Sunday is the only time I get dressed up. I think the only way you can cross the line with shoes is if they are more than three inches and have lights on them. I think that the word sexy is used way too much and out of context. Looking attractive and feminine is not wrong. You go girl! You rock your heels sister!
